Infertility

Infertility is when a couple is unable to contribute to conception after 2 years, despite having regular unprotected contact. If a woman keeps having miscarriages, it will be considered another case of infertility and should also be under the medical care of a specialized doctor.

We offer the following services:

  1. Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI)
Dr. Leila Soudah Clinic has been practicing the procedure of Intra-Uterine insemination for years, to help couples who are having difficulties in conceiving or having problems with infertility. IUI will be done in partnership with Infertility Centers.

This is a simple process where a small catheter is inserted to place specially washed sperm directly into the uterus. The process of this procedure includes the preparation of a woman through proper medication in order to stimulate the development of eggs and to pinpoint the exact timing for ovulation. This can also be done naturally without medication, depending on the case. The husband through masturbation produces semen after 2-5 days of abstinence and this will be sent to the laboratory for "washing". Sperm processing will take up to 60 minutes. A highly worked motile sperm is placed either in the cervix or uterine cavity using a sterile, flexible catheter. The woman can stand-up after a few minutes of lying down without leak out. This procedure should have little to no discomfort.

  2. Follicular Scan/Studies
Follicular Study is an important part of infertility treatment in Dr. Leila Soudah Clinic, in which an ultrasound is used to track a woman's natural cycle. This is a helpful guide for both the doctor and the couple, as it provides them with a greater understanding of the individual's ovulatory pattern. The scan will enable the follicle (fluid filled sacs which can contain an egg) in the ovary to be measured. When the follicles measure a certain size it can then be estimated when ovulation is likely to occur. From this, the doctor can decide and advise the couple when to have timed sexual intercourse (normal contact) prior to ovulation in order for fertilization to occur.

The doctor will use the same procedure in order to decide the right time for IUI or IVF preparation. Dr. Leila Soudah Clinic uses the advanced High-Definition Ultrasound (Voluson E10 GE ultrasound system) 3D/4D technique making the accuracy and resolution of the scan reliable.

  3. Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) – Fertility Test for Tube Patency
This is done when a woman does everything possible in order to become pregnant, and shows is no reason why she should not be able to become pregnant. Dr. Leila Soudah Clinic might suggest undergoing deeper and painless examinations like HSG. This is a very important procedure that takes a clear picture in order to understand the condition of the fallopian tubes of the woman. This will show whether or not it is the tube that is causing the difficulties in conceiving.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is done first by gently inserting a speculum to access the cervix. A catheter will then be gently filled with gel foam, allowing the air to escape before introduction. The catheter is then placed inside the cervix. The ultrasound transducer will be positioned to serve as a guide, while slowly infusing small amounts of gel foam. The doctor will then determine tubal patency.
To ensure efficiency of this service, the clinic uses a “gel foam” which enables fast and simple distention of the walls of the fallopian tubes, allowing high quality ultrasound images to be obtained.

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) reveals the entire picture inside the uterus and also the condition of the fallopian tubes, in order for the doctor to know where the problem with conception lies. Aside from being a diagnostic tool, HSG itself has treated infertility in many women by removing the blockage of fallopian tubes, though the test is not for therapeutic means.
